Getting Started with a Basic Hair Shampoo Formula

What you need: 2 tablespoons (30 ml) liquid castile soap, 1 cup (250ml) spring water, ¼ cup (50 ml) of fresh herbs or 2 tablespoons (30ml) of dried herbs, 1 teaspoon (5ml) almond or apricot kernel oil, 2 drops of essential oil.

This recipe will give you around 24 home spa day shampoos.

How to make it: First, place all the herbs together in a clean 10 ounce (284g) glass jar with a lid. Bring the spring water to boil and then carefully pour the boiling water over the herbs. It’s very important to now cover the mixture and allow it to steep for 20 minutes.

It’s pretty easy so far, isn’t it?

Once you’ve allowed that mixture to steep, strain all of the liquid from the herbs into a bowl. It’s now time to add the liquid castile soap and the almond or apricot kernel oil and mix everything together thoroughly.

Use your chosen essential oil to scent the ingredients and give the whole thing another thorough mix.

You can now bottle your home made shampoo (I just use old plastic shampoo containers that I rinse thoroughly and recycle).

Natural Hair Care Tips for Herbal Hair Conditioners

Herbal hair conditioners help to make your hair much more manageable and often give a smoother, softer texture. To make a basic herbal hair conditioner you will need: 1 cup (250ml) rose floral water, 1 tablespoon (15ml) jojoba oil, 10 drops vitamin E oil.

This recipe is good for 1 treatment of long hair on spa day.How to make it: In the top of a double boiler, gently warm the rose water and then add the jojoba oil. Pour the entire mixture into a blender and then add the vitamin E oil, now blend at high speed for around 2 minutes.

Using Natural Hair Care Products like Herbal Conditioner

Using herbal conditioners can be a little different from the way you’ve been taught to use commercial, mass market conditioners. First, wet your hair with warm water, and then pour the conditioner onto your hair and scalp. Massage the conditioner into your hair thoroughly.

If your hair is damaged, or if you want extra conditioning, leave the conditioner on for several minutes and then rinse with warm water. Now, shampoo lightly and rinse again with cold water. Creating your own natural organic hair care products is simple to do, if you follow these simple instructions you can’t get it wrong.
